Schmusewolle – fine and high-quality yarns

Our motivation to establish the company Schmusewolle was based on the pleasure in fibre crafting.

Having had 25 years of work experience in textile industries, I was producing special hand knitting yarns which have a connection to my home Northern Germany for a small circle of expert knitters.

Using 30 % German wool and in cooperation with textile experts we developed our 4 and 6-ply sock yarn „Gipfelstürmer“, which is refined by a special process and is especially suitable for hand dyeing. Surprised by the demand and the increasing production volume the above mentioned circle motivated me to make these yarns accessible to a wider customer base.

Our philosophy

As we respect our natural environment, each single step in our production chain is environmentally friendly – in line with our motto: our planet is our home. This philosophy starts with the selection of our suppliers, who purchase their wool only from selected German shepherds. A caring breeding, an especially animal friendly way of shearing as well as environmentally friendly dyeing processes are particularly important to us. Hence, it is self-evident that our yarns are 100 % mulesing free.
